DRINK SPIKING
Drink spiking simply means to put something extra into your drink without you knowing it. The most common types of drugs used to “spike” a drink are Rohypnol, GHB, Ketamine, and Alcohol. The idea is to drug you so that you are unable to resist.
Here are a few tips to party safely:
1. Never drink anything that has been left unattended. If your drink leaves your sight, even for a moment, get a new one. If possible you should even watch the bartender as your drink is being made.
2. Don’t accept drinks from strangers. If you do choose to let someone pay for your drink, go with him and order it. Get it directly from the server/bartender.
3. If you have a “funny feeling” and think you have been drugged, you should alert a trusted friend, the venue staff, security, or the authorities immediately. Do the same if you think someone else has been drugged, or if you see someone spike a drink.
4. Look after each other if you are with a group of friends. Keep an eye on each other’s drinks. Make sure they are ok if you see your friend leaving with a stranger. Stick together.
5. Symptoms of drink spiking include feeling drowsy, feeling drunker than expected, confusion, difficulty walking or talking, memory loss, feeling unusually uninhibited, nausea, unconsciousness.
